We would rather correct an error than defend one. If you believe something we published is wrong, we want to hear about it.
How to report an error
Use the contact form and choose “Correction” as the inquiry type, or speak to any editor. Anyone may request a correction — you do not need to be the person the story is about.
What to include
- The headline or link of the story
- The specific statement you believe is inaccurate
- What you believe the correct information is
- Anything that helps us verify it — a document, a date, a person we can ask
How requests are reviewed
The section editor re-reports the disputed point, checking the original notes and sources and seeking new ones where needed. The editor-in-chief decides the outcome. We aim to resolve straightforward requests within three school days.
How corrections are published
When we confirm an error, we fix the story and append a dated correction note describing what was changed. Significant errors are corrected prominently rather than silently. If a request is declined, we explain why to the person who raised it.
