A Missouri artist is gaining attention for turning her love of rescue dogs into colorful and personal works of art.
Kayla Fisher, who creates artwork through Kuhleeluh Studio, was recently highlighted by the Missouri Arts Council as a featured artist. One of the paintings that helped showcase her work was inspired by three dogs in her own home, Kora, Piper, and Maybel.
Fisher originally painted the three rescue dogs for herself. The idea came from the personalities of the animals and the special place they hold in her household. She approached the project with a playful concept, portraying the dogs as royalty.
According to Fisher, the idea seemed fitting because the dogs already behave as though they run the household. What began as a personal painting eventually opened the door to a new artistic opportunity.

The original artwork attracted the attention of someone who connected with the concept and wanted Fisher to create a similar painting of their own Bernese Mountain Dog.
